My Mama Used To Say…

1.

Anytime he drove his little Mitsubishi up the freeway to Sta. Monica to see his friend Miguel, it didn’t feel alright. Of course, Miguel wasn’t a friend but he had the good stuff he was after – obviously never running out of premium quality cocaine. That was the good thing about Miguel. The bad thing was that Miguel only gave the drug to him when he just felt like it; and he would treat him like a piece of shit anyway because he knew perfectly sure that he needed the stuff so badly. A man’s dignity is a terrible thing to waste!

My Mama used to say it doesn’t have to be that way

It’s all gonna stay the same until you change it

2.

She woke up with that common dream of being a world famous actress. Her figure so fine; her hair so shiny; a smile like diamonds. Standing on the stage; staring over the heads of her fascinated audience. Hearing the applause, blinded by the flashes of a hundred cameras. Once she had already gone half way up the steps. The teachers in actors’ school attested her extraordinary talent. She worked hard on herself and gained some success on stage. But the kids came too early; her man has become taciturn and disinterested. She has tried so often to lose weight, but you know… By now the last glamorous thing in her life is her wedding picture.
